Welsh alt rock trio The Joy Formidable graced LA’s Immanuel Presbyterian Church with their semi-acoustic Leave No Trace tour on Saturday night. The performance took place in the church’s Westminster Chapel, which provided a unique intimacy for the band and their audience. The playful and inviting stage setting, complete with teepee, campfire, and fallen leaves, created an atmosphere akin to old campfire sing-a-longs.

We were treated to acoustic renditions of TJF favorites peppered with witty banter and interplay amongst the band. Guitarist and singer Ritzy Bryan encouraged the crowd to participate when she said, “Feel free to ask us anything. Just don’t request any songs.” Violinist Anna Bulbrook (The Airborne Toxic Event, The Bulls, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros) joined the band on two songs.

The Joy Formidable plan to return to Los Angeles after recording new material later this year.
